Many players focus solely on rolling better traits and evolving units, completely ignoring the permanent account-wide upgrades available in Anime Tactical Simulator.
If your units are standing still because enemies are out of bounds, or you feel like your overall DPS is hard-capped, it is time to visit the Upgrades Menu.
The Upgrades Menu and Movement Medals
Located in the main lobby, the Upgrades station allows you to spend a special currency called 'Movement Medals' on permanent quality-of-life and combat buffs [cite: 914-915].
The most important upgrades to prioritize are:
- Attack Range: Increases the massive circle around your character, allowing your units to auto-attack enemies from across the map without you having to run up to them [cite: 1127-1128].
- Sprint Speed: Helps you navigate maps faster before you unlock premium mounts.
- Backpack Capacity: Increases the amount of units you can hold before auto-selling kicks in.
How to Farm Movement Medals
Movement Medals cannot be bought with coins or gems. The primary way to obtain them is through the Achievements system and Tower Mode.
Pro Tip: Pushing the Tower is extremely lucrative. Not only do you get 500 Gems every 5 waves, but reaching specific milestones (like Floor 20) rewards you with a bulk drop of 15 Movement Medals and extra Card Open tickets[cite: 1119, 1125].
Unlocking Extra Unit Slots
The single biggest DPS increase you can get in the game isn't a trait—it's equipping an entirely new unit.
While you can buy a '+2 Units Equipped' game pass using the generous free Gems the game provides (you can earn over 2,000 Gems just by progressing naturally), you can also unlock slots through gameplay [cite: 947-949].
Beating Floor 20 in the Tower will grant you an additional unit slot. This effectively multiplies your total damage output, making previously impossible Raids a breeze [cite: 1111-1112].
The Raid Meta for Rerolls
Once your attack range is maxed and your slots are unlocked, your final grind should be Raids. Even if you fail a Nightmare Raid or only clear the first few rooms, you will still be rewarded with dozens of Trait Reroll tokens [cite: 1140-1144].
Warning: Do not waste Premium Medals on normal units. Save them specifically for Exclusive units (like Jake Pudding) that require them for rerolls [cite: 1027-1028].
